Despite its name, this hotel offers affordable rates, considering it is such a luxurious resort. A standard room, called the grand guestroom, offers plasma TVs, yes, including one in the bathroom, a massive bathroom with bathtub, and a plush bed.

The Tom Fazio designed golf course is quite challenging, but fair. The best part about the course are the views of the hillside country. If you’re playing near dusk, you may be able to see the hot air balloons sailing overhead to catch the pacific sunset.

Although it was a holiday weekend, the place is so expansive that it did not feel cramped at all. Having four pools and a few jacuzzis is a huge plus. All in all, I’d categorize The Grand Del Mar as one of the best resorts worldwide.
